Saint Michel du Bosc

Saint Michel du Bosc is the name of our house, or rather our hamlet, an old priory (1153 AD). It is the only house on a medieval road named after it. For centuries, it has been peacefully situated in Lithaire-Montsenelle, Normandy. Far from the main roads, on a hill with a magnificent view over the surrounding hills, forests, and the sea in the distance. The setting offers tranquility, yet you are close to beautiful beaches and interesting sites that the Cotentin has to offer.

Locus Amoenus

We call it Locus Amoenus (the good place). It offers you peace and quiet within the centuries-old monastery walls of the priory. The renovation of one of the old buildings into a modern guesthouse is nearly complete. The photo gallery gives a preview of our first comfortable and spacious holiday home for up to 6 people (190 m²). Work in final progress. We call this first gîte "Mathilde", after the founder of the priory, Mathilde de Vernon (1135-1209). It has three spacious and comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious kitchen and living room, high-speed internet and ampel parking space. On one side, you have a view of the stately main building, while on the other, you have a panoramic view of a beautiful meadow. It has two terraces, one of which is fenced (1.2 m).

Reconnect in rural outdoors

This authentic French estate is largely stone walled and covers approximately 60,000 m². There is an orchard with fruit trees, a pond, a vegetable garden, and parking on the premises. Surrounded by greenery and the sound of frogs, crickets, and singing birds, you cannot help but unwind here! Lithaire-Montsenelle is located in the heart of the Cotentin, ideal for enjoying nature, peace, and space. Here you can discover authentic Normandy. From Mont Saint-Michel to Cape Cotentin, via the Côte des Isles (Jersey), Granville, and the Normandy landing sites, to The Hague in the north – a region full of culture, cliffs, headlands, beaches, and recreational opportunities! The various beaches are just a 15-minute drive away, ideal for endless walks. There are numerous riding stables where you can rent horses. Or take a bike ride through the forests of La-Haye-du-Puits - Carentan. This route is 21.9 km long. There are daily markets and flea markets every weekend (especially in the summer). L'Etang des Haizes, with its fishing pond, is located near La Haye du Puits. This charming campsite is highly recommended for carp fishing.

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." Marcel Proust.
